Geocore was contracted by Curtins to undertake a project at a school in Leeds. The scope of work utilised two of our teams using both a Comacchio 602 rig and a mechanical auger tracked rig.

The team drilled three rotary cored boreholes to depths of 25 metres, two rotary open hole boreholes to depths of 25 metres, all using water flush, along with three monitoring wells with 50 millimetre install pipes.

The mechanical auger rig was then utilized to drill five window sampled boreholes to a maximum depth of five metres, followed by four monitoring wells with 50 millimetre install pipes. The team also undertook hand pitting to assist with dynamic cone penetration testing completed by the client.

The project was carried out during term time, so the team worked hard to minimise disruption to pupils, teachers and parents. Visqueen and bunds were taken to site to ensure the site was kept clean and tidy for the duration of the work.

The project was all completed within the 11-day window stipulated by the client with a clean and tidy site left behind and minimal disruption to the school.
